Reno Lodge 13 - Free & Accepted Masons
of Nevada
| Child ID |
| On Thu May 1 2008, Webmason brings the following to our attention: | none |
This is the schedule of events for the Washoe County Sheriff Mike Haley and Northern Nevada Masons Child Identification Program.
We take digital thumbprints and color photo and include the child's demographics. All information is returned for the parents use only, with a small zip lock bag for a hair and/or fingernail DNA sample. No information is retained. The service is free. The information is for the parents to give police if they have to report their child missing. Time, current and correct child information are critical to get a search going as soon as possible when a child is lost. We advise making extra copies for yourself, family, baby sitters, etc. so you always have a copy with you. Children under 7 years should have a new picture every 3 months.
We will be using a new live scan Cross Match system for part of the ID's that we will do. With this system we print two wallet sized ID cards and one large one. Used when time and personnel are available.
Sunday, May 11, 2008, 8:00 to 12:00 p.m. Child ID for the 8th Annual Moms On The Run. At Foster Field, Reno High School Campus. This is to raise money to assist local women with cancer. Arrive as early as you can, as parking will be at a premium. The Sheriff has requested as many as possible to assist in the Child ID for this event. Check the event at www.momsontherun.info for all details. First race at 9:00 AM and the event will end at noon. Mr. White will bring the equipment as I will be out of town. He will need all the help you can give him. Please come out and join us for this worthy event.
Wednesday, July 2, 2008, 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Child ID for Kindercare Open House in Sparks at 1285 N. McCarron Blvd., just north of Prater on the west side of the street. Need volunteers and get your child done at the same time.
Friday, July 4, 2008, 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Child ID for Star Spangled Sparks at the Sparks Marina. We will be in the gazebo out of the sun. This event is getting bigger each year and this year should be another big one. Lots and lots of children. If you can spare the time, please help and volunteer.
For those of you who have not joined in one of our outings lately doesn't mean that we can do it without you. For the number of people and possible volunteers that this goes to, if everyone could attend just one outing a year, we could greatly increase the number of children we are reaching. We are at 20,000 since 2001, but there are still many more that should be done. The sheriff and the Masons DON'T get paid for each child. This is a free service to the community. Please join us when you can.
If you can volunteer some of your time or you have children you want processed, please join us at one of the above events.
